Yuki Abe

Interior Architect Yuki Abe was born in Sweden. She is a Japanese citizen with an education from Finland. She has an extensive experience both in the fields of interior and furniture design. Her works has drawn wide domestic and international media attention.

Yuki has worked in the prominent Finnish design offices. For example she has been involved in the planning of the Marimekko store and SRV Studio at the Kamp Shopping Center in Helsinki. Yuki works together with her four colleagues in the design office How About Viktor, a furniture and concept design practice established by herself. Right now How About Viktor is working with the VOW-mobilia design exhibition to be held in September 2007 in Helsinki. The most recent designs of her group will be presented at this event.

Yuki is also one of the four team members in the interior planning of the Paulig new coffee roasting plant to be completed in 2010. Studio Bergroth Oy is in charge for the interior planning and as independent designers in the project are Yuki Abe, Linda Bergroth, Päivi Bergroth and Henrik Drufva.

Yuki’s Master of Arts diploma work at UIAH in 2005 was awarded first prize the same year by the Finnish Furniture Foundation. The same project was also awarded by SATO as an Enhancement of Living by Furniture.
